1 May 2019, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues to support the events related to implementation of the ‘Raising knowledge and skills of financial market participants’ target prioritized in the ‘Strategic Roadmap on development of financial services’ approved by Decree of the President dated 6 December 2016 in the current year as well.
An educational poster contest was held at the Baku Convention Center on 26 April 2019 as part of the ‘Smart budget’ project organized by the Junior Achievement Azerbaijan with input from the Central Bank, the Ministry of Education and the Youth Fund. The key goal of the event was to inspire pupils to deliver financial literacy topics to broad public by means of posters, develop their creative thinking and promote financial awareness among them.
300 pupils gained better understanding of interactive budgeting, controlling, income, expenses and saving improving their practical skills at the first phase of the two-round project. 23 teams of 168 pupils participated in the contest with their posters. Teams developed posters to display the knowledge and skills they learned on budget, banks, bank cards, tax, insurance etc.
The jury of representatives from the Swiss Cooperation Office in South Caucasus, the Ministry of Education, Central Bank staff and independent experts assessed posters in terms of creative thinking, clear messages and delivery skills and determined 3 best teams. The winners were awarded with certificates and gifts.
The Central Bank will continue awareness and promo events to raise financial literacy of various target groups, as well as support related initiatives in future as well.
