17 May 2019, Baku: The CBA continues to hold seminars for students as part of the ‘Week of Financial and Digital Technologies’ to increase awareness on and promotion of digital payments. Hence, sectoral experts of the MasterCard International held a seminar for students of the University of Economics and the Baku Engineering University.
The students were detailed on the latest innovations, trends and experience of developed countries on digital payments and the essence of finteches at the seminar dedicated to modern payment methods. They were also informed on state-of-art innovation-based financial service facilities, new actors in the payment environment, NFC Technology based mobile payments, QR code payments and their use, likely risks and the ways for their mitigation.
Also, presenters delivered general information on Central Bank efforts to develop digital payments in the country and explained main benefits of cashless payments for the country.
To note, the CBA is planning to regularly hold events of the type to raise awareness on innovative payment services among various groups in line with the strategic targets of the ‘State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2020’ approved by Decree#508 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of 26 September 2018.
