8 May 2019, Baku: Alim Guliyev, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank met the delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) headed by Damien Shiels, IFC Regional Manager.
The participants discussed the current and future activity program of the IFC in Azerbaijan, including issues related to financial infrastructure, e- and digital financial services.
Having greeted the delegation A.Guliyev informed the guests on economic reforms under way and projects implemented by the Central Bank in line with the reforms agenda. The country attained rapid socio-economic growth on the basis of the growth strategy announced by Mr. President and safeguarded macroeconomic and financial stability. He highlighted the importance of ties with reputational international financial institutions, including the IFC as one of the priorities of international cooperation. Highly appreciating the cooperation between the Central Bank and the IFC A.Guliyev expressed his assurance that the ties will further keep going.
Damien Shiels, the head of the delegation, expressed his satisfaction with the activity of the institution he is a part of, and thanked the Central Bank for its support for IFC led programs. He positively assessed the efforts and reforms to safeguard macroeconomic and financial stability and said that his institution stands ready to further support the private sector in our country.
The participants also shared their opinions on the prospects of cooperation between the Central Bank and the IFC.
