Training program and press-tour for media representatives as part of 100 year anniversary of central banking in Azerbaijan
The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan always attaches improtance to boosting professional cooperation with media institutions, as the key target of communication, and financial literacy of journalists on economy, finance and central banking.
As a follow-up of the process the Bank held a training program titled ‘Cental banking’ for media representatives on 2 – 20 September of the current year as part of the events dedicated to the 100 year anniversary of central banking in Azerbaijan. The program covered main activity directions of central banking, the monetary policy, development of payment systems, the balance of payments, organization and management of cash circulation, advanced trends in financial technologies, cryptocurrency and blockchain solutions, central banks’ communication policy and other topics. The training was completed with a press-tour to the Guba Regional Center of the Central Bank. During the press-tour, whose main goal was to inform media representatives on-site on the activities of the regional center, the journalists were detailed on the dynamic nature of socio-economic development in the region, development of banking – financial institutions there, raising financial and economic literacy, and functions discharged by the center followed by a Q&A session.
The media representatives got a chance to closely familiarize themselves with the work of the center, they were also detailed on their activities. The presentations delivered to them covered organization of cash circulation in the country and the role of regional centers, and implementation of the tasks to apply e-payment services on a regional level and expand cashless settlements. The Central Bank created treasury infrastructure up to high security standards, whose level of service has been adjusted to international standards. Regional and reserve centers are actively involved in financial literacy of the population on national currency, rules for their changing and in anti-counterfeiting. These centers are also attracted to real sector monitoring and statistic data collecting.
At the end of the press tour media representatives visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex and honored the memory of victims of the genocide and familiarized with the exhibits in the museum of the Complex.
