Abstract: The paper studies theoretical foundations of social capital. In particular, it analyzes the definition of social capital, its forms, usefulness, and conceptual model in general. One of the main purposes of the paper is to measure social capital.
For this purpose, we use the results of the European Values Survey to calculate the regional index for the European countries. To compute index, we use 45 indicators (survey results and economic indicators).
