7 January 2019, Baku: The Central Bank continues actions with respect to the implementation of the ‘Increasing knowledge and skills of financial market participants’ target of the ‘Strategic Roadmap on Development of Financial Services’ approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 6 December 2016. As part of these actions the Bank holds professional trainings for secondary school teachers on the financial literacy elements integrated to the curriculum.
In November-December 2018 the Central Bank held trainings for teachers who teach the ‘Learning the World’ subject with the organization of the Baku city Education Department. Over 100 elementary school teachers of Baku secondary schools involved to the pilot trainings were informed on the Financial Literacy portal (bizimpullar.az) and educated on the Learning the World and financial literacy, currency and its protection elements, budgeting, thrifty use of available resources, taxes and the state budget, insurance and other topics. The trainings were finalized with Q&A session, and participants received training toolkits. Organizers got participants’ feedback and conducted final evaluation. The teachers were awarded with certificates according to the results of the examination held at the end of the training.
The Central Bank is planning to continue the pilot project in question oriented towards elementary school teachers taking into account the feedback of training participants and hold various financial literacy events for other staff of secondary schools.
