30 January 2019, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan is starting a national promoting ‘Pay with card and earn with card’ lottery covering various strata of the population from 1 February onward to boost public interest in digital payments, instill digital payment habits and expand cashless payments.
The stimulating lottery to be held in three circles will cover February, March and April respectively. Over the period every cardholder conducting minimum an AZN5 (five) worth of cashless operation with payment cards issued by Azerbaijani banks in POS-terminals of economic agents across the country will automatically get the right to participate in the lottery, i.e. each transaction over AZN5 will get one chance.
Lottery prize amount is AZN50 (fifty) and each draw will be credited to the winner’s card after the circle. All payment cards, including pension, salary and student cards will participate in the lottery. Total 1800 persons are planned to be winners over the lottery lifetime.

Also, the Azerbaijan Banks Association is the partner of the Central Bank in communication of the lottery.
The lottery is held to promote cashless payments among the population, shape cashless payment habits in economic agents and increase cashless circulation in the economy as part of the assignments to the Central Bank with the Strategic Roadmap on development of telecommunication and information technologies in the Republic of Azerbaijan approved by Decree # 1138 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 6 December 2016 and the State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2020 approved by Decree # 508 dated 26 September 2018.
The Central Bank is planning to maintain campaigns of the kind in future.
