15 May 2019, Baku: The CBA held a seminar for students of the Baku State University and the University of Economics as part of the ‘Week of Financial and Digital Technologies’ to increase awareness on and promotion of digital payments. The topic of the seminar was to deliver the European experience on digital payments and the role of financial technologies (fintech) in financial markets to participants. Kostas Noreika, the founder and CEO of the Paysera – the company with a multiyear experience in digital banking and e-trade, shared his expertise with the students of economics and IT.
The participants were detailed on digitalization of the economy and financial services, expansion of innovative payment services and development of digital payments. They also were informed on the importance of financial technologies and bank – fintech cooperation nowadays. Finteches are very critical for the financial sector, since they offer optimum solutions to users combining financial services with modern technologies, rapidly becoming innovative service suppliers.
The participants were also informed on CBA projects on development of digital payments and benefits of cashless payments for the country economy.
To note, the CBA is planning to hold events of the type regularly to raise awareness on innovative payment services among various groups in line with the strategic targets of the ‘State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018-2020’ approved by Decree#508 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of 26 September 2018.
