30 December 2019, Baku: The CBA continues a series of events on implementation of the ‘Increase of knowledge and skills of financial market participants’ target of the ‘Strategic Roadmap on Development of Financial Services in the Republic of Azerbaijan’ and the ‘Strengthening awareness and promotion on digital payments’ direction of the ‘State Program on expansion of digital payments in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2020’.
16 financial literacy trainings delivered to about 1,000 participants in December involved students at the Binagadi Youth House, ‘Families from ABAD’ at regional ABAD centers in Masally and Balaken regions, students of the Mingachevir State University, a group of teachers who teach Knowledge of Life in the Yevlakh region, as well as pupils and staff from a number of kindergartens and secondary schools in Baku.
The participants were educated on ‘Digital payments’, ‘Consumer budget planning’, ‘Bank operations’, ‘Savings’, ‘History of money’, ‘Responsible lending’ and ‘Banknotes’ security elements’ followed by Q&A sessions. To note, country office of the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (SBFIC) participated in and supported the trainings in the regions.
The participants were also detailed on the bizimpullar.az portal, the edu.e-cbar.az virtual educational platform and the axtar.bizimpullar.az (infobank.az), a search system of financial products and services.
In parallel, a representative of the Central Bank participated at the conference titled ‘Financial literacy in the CIS’ organized by the OECD and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation held in Moscow on 9-10 December.
Note that the Central Bank will continue various activities with respect to implementation of the related Strategic Roadmap and the State Program aimed at improving financial knowledge and skills of the population expanding regional coverage in 2020 too.
