11 February 2022, Baku: The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued to circulation 20 manat banknote dedicated to the Karabakh motif as part of renewal of our national currency with the application of the latest innovations and technologies currently available in international practice on the eve of 30 year anniversary of the Central Bank.
Main design elements on the currency dedicated to the Karabakh motif are the images of swords, helmets and shields that depict the power, strength and determination of the Azerbaijani people, as well as a number of design elements, including the Khari Bulbul flower, the pearl of the Karabakh fauna, the symbol of victory and the word ‘Karabakh’.
The latest security elements in the renewed 20 manat banknote include 3D hologram, miraculous “Spark Live” (dynamic light effects and color changing properties), watermark (the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Azerbaijan and denomination visible at light), visually impaired recognition feature (lines on the right and left of the obverse of the note can help blind and sight impaired persons to recognize the value of the note), vertical design (the back of the banknote is vertically designed in line with the latest trends in banknote manufacturing), security thread, intaglio print, micro texts etc.
We would like to inform you that the renewed 20 manat banknote will be in parallel circulation with the same denomination old banknote, and used as a legal tender indefinitely.
