22 April, Baku: In international practice, central banks upgrade the design and security elements of currency periodically to strengthen anti-counterfeiting, introduce the state-of-art technologies and innovations and make the people satisfied.
In light of the international practice, the Central Bank started to upgrade the national currency within the current concept with the application of the most recent innovations, Nano and micro currency technologies. Within this framework, the bank issued to circulation 1, 5 and 50 manat upgraded banknotes to circulation early 2021 year and 20 manat upgraded banknote from February this year.
As a follow-up of the process, the 10 manat currency dedicated to the ‘History’ motif has been upgraded in terms of design and security elements within the current concept using the most recent innovations.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan is announcing that it will issue to circulation the 10 manat currency with upgraded design and progressive security elements on 22 June 2022.
3D hologram, miraculous Spark Live element (dynamic light effects and color changing images), watermark (the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Azerbaijan and denomination visible at light), visually impaired recognition feature (lines on the right and left of the obverse of the note can help blind and sight impaired persons to recognize the value of the note), vertical design (back of the currency is designed vertically in line with the most up-to-date trend in banknote production), security thread, iridescent ink, micro texts and others have been applied in the upgraded 10 manat banknote as the most recent security elements.
We inform you that since the production of the upgraded 10 manat banknote has already been completed, this banknote bears the signature of the former governor of the Central Bank.
Currently adaptation of all cash systems and devices to the upgraded 10 manat banknote is under way throughout the country.
We would like to inform you that upgraded 10 manat banknote will be in parallel circulation with the currency of the same denomination and be used as a legal tender.
