According to the Decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on ‘Changes to the Nominal Value of Monetary Units and the Scale of Prices (denomination)’ dated 7 February 2005 new generation currency (AZN) was issued into circulation from 2006 onward (1:5000). The denomination structure of new currency includes 6 denominations of banknotes (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100) and 6 denominations of gapiks (1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50).
One manat is divided into 100 (hundred) gapiks.
The symbol of the Azerbaijani manat –azn, the ISO code – 994.
A motif of single concept based new monetary units is ‘Independent Azerbaijan’, which features independence, growth and development of Azerbaijan across all areas and integration of Azerbaijan to Europe.
