3 June 2026, Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the country’s new Central Bank headquarters in Baku.
Governor of the Central Bank, Taleh Kazimov, briefed the Head of State on the facilities and infrastructure established in the building.
Located at 167 Heydar Aliyev Avenue, the headquarters was constructed in accordance with modern urban planning principles and features advanced technological systems and high operational functionality.
President Aliyev toured an exhibition highlighting the history and development of Azerbaijan’s national currency, including the design and security features of banknotes and coins.
The 35-storey building can accommodate about 1,300 employees and includes conference and press facilities, training rooms and meeting spaces.
The headquarters was designed with accessibility and inclusion in mind, incorporating infrastructure intended to ensure convenient access and mobility for people with disabilities.
The facility contains 25 rooms for official meetings and events, all equipped with modern communications and technical systems. Employee amenities include recreation areas and a cafeteria with seating for 340 people.
A 240-seat conference hall has been built to host presentations and other public events.
To enhance the building’s visual identity at night, the headquarters incorporates energy-efficient technologies, including motion-sensor LED lighting throughout the facility and surrounding grounds. A multimedia façade system enables large-scale lighting displays and projections, further enhancing the building’s nighttime presence.
